Marine Fungi Diversity in Beaches of Havana City.Abstract
Few works have been published worldwide dealing with marine fungi. Only 28 species are known for Cuba up to date. The objectives of this study were to isolate and classify marine fungi in order to know the diversity of this group in six beaches of the north coast of Havana City. The methodology used was incubation of vegetal substratum in humid camera. As a result, 158 isolations were obtained, 20 species were identified and 9 of these represent new records for Cuba. The most frequent species found in this collection were Corollospora marina and Lindra marinera, with percentages of appearance of 27.3% and 20% respectively. The greatest number of species were isolated in Bacuranao and Boca Ciega beaches, probably related to the abundance of vegetal substratum. The identified species are deposited in the Collection of Marine Microorganisms of the Institute of Oceanology.Journal
