El derrotero, es un documento que contiene información de interés general para la población de una región costera, navegante y turistas; expresadas escrita y gráficamente a partir de la descripción del medio litoral de ésta nación marítima, de sus ilsas como también las condiciones principales de cada puerto, además de otras informaciones complemento de cartas y ayudas a la navegación.Colombia is the only southamerican country with two oceans on its coasts. The caribean sea lies to the north and the Pacific Ocean lies to the west. This area has extremely poor population. However its environmental richness is very important. There are about 1865 miles between Punta Dirgado and Bahía de Ancón. Buenaventura and Tumaco are the most important ports at the Pacific region. Moreover it is possible to visit the army center (A.R.C. Málaga). Not very far away to Pacific coast there are locate two islands: Malpelo and Gorgona. The document "Derrotero del Pacífico Colombiano", is featured with chapter s wich deals with some laws, a general view of the coast and aid information according to the place where the course is setted. This sector describes the outlying islands, dangers and banks that are widely scattered west of the coast of Colombia. The sequence of description is from North to South. Most of this coast is low with sandy beaches interrupted by rocky points and prominent headlands, Inland, mountain ranges often parallel to the coast, there are also detached mountains and hills backing the coast in various places. Numerous islands, some contiguos with teh shore, liw near river deltas and off the many bays which ident this coast.
