In Baltra island, between april to august/89, eleven different types of woods were deposited on the bottom of the sea and exposed to the effect of boring molluscs; seven organisms were founded: Bankia carinata, B. gouldi, Lyrodus medilobata, l. pedicellatus, Teredo bartschi, T. furcifera and one Isopoda which belongs to the genus Limnoria. of all boring molluscs T. furcifera was the most abundant and frequent, being in second place was L. pedicellatus. The female species with eggs were: T. furcífera, L. pedicellatus, L. medilobata and T. bartschi, of which T. furcífera was the most abundant and frequent. The wood that showed the highest number of female with eggs was the Laurel. Of the eleven different types of wood exposed to the marine environment, the less damaged or more ressitent were: Moral, Chanul, Laurel, Alcanfor y Palo de vaca, while that the woods more degradated and which are not good for use in a construction of piers and boats that are exposed to the marine environment are: Nato, Mangle, Tillo, Figueroa, Guayacán y Fernan Sanchez. The isopodos Limnoria sp. was observed infesting three of the eleven types of diferents woods which were: Laurel, Tillo y Fernan Sanchez. In the Laurel wood the highest number of isopoda was observed
