Synthesis of the biological-fishery aspects of Argentine red shrimp (Pleoticus muelleri, Decapoda, Solenoceridae)Abstract
The fishery of Argentine red shrimp, one of the most important fishery resources of the Argentine Sea has been, during years, among the most profitable of the Argentine Exclusive Economic Zone. In 2013 the total annual landing declared amounted to 100,670 t, in 2014 to 127,030 t and in 2015 to 143,004 t, an absolute record in its history and the sixth season with a reported figure exceeding 70,000 t. The species is neritic coastal, of temperate-cold waters and demersal-benthic habits. It has a relatively short life cycle and a high growth rate of spatio-temporal variation.
