Characterization of water and sediment of a harvest season of Claria gariepinus in Cuba.Abstract
En 2013 se realizaron dos muestreos en la estación de cultivo La Paila, Pinar del Río durante el cultivo de la Claria gariepinus, tomándose muestras de agua y sedimento en las diferentes piscinas (alevinaje hasta ceba) y toma de abasto. Se determinaron indicadores físico-químicos, microbiológicos, bacteriológicos y caracterización del fitoplancton. Los resultados mostraron niveles de amonio y fósforo altos en estanques de pre-ceba, por encima de lo establecido por la SLA (2009) para estos cultivos; además alto conteo de Coliformes totales, esto ocasiona trastornos en el crecimiento de los animales; y de elevado desarrollo de fitoplancton con reducción del OD en el agua, que hace más susceptibles a los animales a cualquier enfermedad o parásito. Se determinó que el agua era blanda (< 75 mg/l), el pH neutro y el Carbón Orgánico (< 3%) propio de sedimentos no contaminados. Hubo presencia de Aeromonas hidrophyla en piscina de alevinaje en época de seca, patógena en malas condiciones de cultivo, por ser oportunista, recomendándose el uso de probióticos para su reemplazo. La presencia de este microorganismo en agua unido a las concentraciones de amonio y Coliformes fecales obtenidas constituyen riesgos para la salud de los animales cultivados, principalmente alevines que son más susceptibles a enfermedades. Se identificaron 36 géneros dentro del fitoplancton, con mayor abundancia de Clorofitas representando el 50%, seguido de Cianofitas con un 27%. Hubo presencia de un bloom de Cianobacterias del género Oscillatoria en estanque de preceba, que tornaron el agua del mismo de mala calidad.Two samples were taken in the harvest season La Paila, Pinar del Río in 2013 year during the Claria gariepinus harvest, taking samples of water and sediment in many ponds (nursery pond to fattening) and water supply. Phytopankton characterization and physicochemical, microbiological and bacteriological indicators were determined. The results showed levels of ammonia and phosphorus high in before fattening ponds, above the established by the SLA (2009) for these harvest; in addition high levels of total Coliforms, this causes disorders in the growth of the animals; and high development of phytoplankton with reduction of OD in the water, which makes it more susceptible to any disease or parasite. It was determined that the ponds water was soft (less than 75 mg/l), neutral pH and non- contaminated sediment (Organic Carbon < 3%). There was presence of Aeromonas hidrophyla in nursery pond during dry season, pathogenic in poor growing conditions, for being opportunistic, recommending the use of probiotics for replacement. The presence of this organism in water attached to concentrations of ammonium and fecal Coliforms constitute risks to the health of fishes farmed, mainly nursery who are more susceptible to diseases. There were identificated 36 genera of phytoplankton with greater abundance of Chlorophytes representing 50%, followed by Cyanophites with 27%. There was a presence of a bloom of Cyanobacteria of the genus Oscillatoria in weaner pond, which turned the water of poor quality.
