Abstract: This paper presents a review of tuna transhipment in Mauritius and of the local purse-seine fishery. Mauritian purse seiners use FADs to concentrate the fish before netting them. Information is presented on catch and effort, species composition, length frequency and spatial distribution of the purse-seine catches.
