| Résumé: | Los pepinos de mar u holoturias son animales que presentan un particular
interés por su alto valor nutricional, medicinal, ecológico y comercial. Poseen
un elevado contenido de proteína, minerales y polisacáridos indispensables
para la nutrición humana. Son inhibidores de algunos tipos de cáncer y tienen
bioactivos útiles en la elaboración de fármacos. Son recicladores de nutrientes,
evitando la acumulación de materia orgánica en descomposición. En el
mercado presentan una gran demanda, con precios de alrededor de 100.00
USD/Kg según la especie, razón por la que algunas de las poblaciones
naturales están sobre explotadas. A nivel internacional se tiene conocimiento
del cultivo de varias especies de pepino de mar. En Cuba, comenzó en 1999 la
pesquería de la Isostichopus badionotus, especie principal comercial. Ésta se
vende a buen precio, cumpliendo con las exigencias del mercado asiático. De
la misma se conoce su potencial de captura, ciclo de vida en condiciones
naturales y época de maduración. Teniendo en cuenta estas condicionales, se
presentó un Proyecto para desarrollar el cultivo de la especie en el país. Se
valoraron zonas costeras y se encontraron muy buenas condiciones de calidad
del agua y logística en Boca Ambuila, Cienfuegos. El poder desarrollar la
transferencia de tecnología de cultivo existente a la I. badionotus en Cuba,
permitirá aumentar sus posibilidades productivas sin afectar las poblaciones
naturales, la repoblación de zonas marinas, incrementar la comercialización del
producto y la creación de nuevos puestos de trabajo.
Sea cucumbers or holothurians are animals that have a particular interest
because of its high nutritional, medicinal, ecological and commercial
value. They have a high content of protein, minerals and polysaccharides which
are essential for human nutrition. They are inhibitors of some types of cancer
and are useful in developing bioactive drug. They are recyclers of nutrients,
preventing the accumulation of decaying organic matter. They have a high
marketing demand, with prices about 100.00 USD / Kg depending on the
species and this is the reason why some of the natural populations are
overexploited. At the international level is aware about culture of several
species of sea cucumber. In Cuba, the fishery of Isostichopus badionotus, main
commercial species, began in 1999. It is sold by mean a good price, compliance
the demands of the Asian market. About this specie, they know it´s potential capture, life cycle in the wild and spawning season. Taking in account these
conditionals, a Project to develop the culture of the species in the country was
presented. Coastal areas were assessed and a very good water quality and
logistics in Boca Ambuila, Cienfuegos was found. The feasibility of develop the
existing technology transfer to culture of I. badionotus in Cuba, will increase
their productive potential without affecting natural populations, repopulation of
marine areas, increase marketing product as well as creating new jobs. |
