The fishing gear: Its incidence in the quality of Snook (CentropomusAbstract
In order to achieve high quality spawns of eggs is indispensable to have a healthy broodstock and adequate sexual development. One of the most important aspect to keep in mind in the maintenance and manipulation to obtain healthy animals, are those ones linked to the use of efficient capture techniques which causes the first strong stress situation. The incidence of three fishing gear types (beach seine, net gills and fixed net) on snook’s survival in 72 hours from catch was studied. In all cases healthy individuals (no wound, damage, losses of scales and mucus) were collected. Fixed net presented greatest catch of animals in this concerning state 2 than the others gears. Survival of fixed net showed significant differences (p<0,05) between concerning gill net and beach seine during period of observation, while no significant differences between gill net and beach seine were observed during same time. Some aspects about use of other auxiliary devices on fishing handling during capture with beach seine and net gill are discussed.
