About 272 miles of bathymetric profiles on specific areas and 1.250 miles along the entire investigation in the Bransfield Strait were recorded during the First Ecuadorian Expedition to Antarctica. An East-West trending submarine ridge at the center of the strait and a submarine mount in the Southwestern basin were investigated to test the general idea of tectonic evolution of the SW-NE trending strait and its surrounding terrains. After considering geologic-tectonic information of the areas, the absence of those features were atributed to erroneous data acquisition for elaborating the referenced charts taken into account for this study. On the other hand, six submarine canyons along the continental shelf of Antarctic Peninsula were surveyed. Their walls and bottom characteristics indicate their formation stage. They were formed by bottom currents coming from Antarctic Peninsula and probably contibute with their cold water for the oceanographic conditions of the strait.
