Durante la VIII Expedición Antártica Ecuatoriana se llevó a cabo un estudio de la cobertura vegetal en Punta Fort Willams, Isla Greenwich. Los objetivos planteados fueron: Conocer el estado actual de la vegetación, determinar la abundancia, dominación y frecuencia a través de la cobertura vegetal, así como la riqueza florística de las comunidades vegetales, para poder establecer si sufren impactos debido a las actividades antropogénicas. Se marcaron seis zonas de vegetación y se encontraron un total de 36 especies de líquenes distribuidos en 13 familias y cuatro especies de musgos pertenecientes a cuatro familias.A vegetal coverture study was carried out in Fort Williams Point, Greenwich Island during the VIII Ecuadorian Antarctic Expedition. The objective were: to know the current state of vegetation, to determine the floristic richness of vegetal communities so that possible impacts due to anthropogenic activities can be identified. Six zones were marked and a total of 36 species of linchens distributed into 13 families and four species of mosses belonging to four families were identified.
