Food potential of juvenile pink shrimp (Farfantepenaeus notialis), period 2007 - 09 in the gulf of Ana María, CubaAbstract
We studied the food potential of the pink shrimp (Farfantepenaeus notialis) from 2007-2009 in seven areas in the coastline of the Gulf of Ana María, Beach Florida, 22º 45' N and 78º 05' W up to 21º 10' N and 78º 40' W. We analyzed the taxonomic composition and density of epibenthic organisms and their relationship with the abundance and size composition of juvenile pink shrimp and abiotic variables. Copepods were the most representative organisms in the epibenthic, between 80-87 % of all organisms, followed by molluscs between 5 and 11 % and the other groups in low percentages. In the period 2007-2009, the potential differences in food, temperature and salinity. There is positive correlation with level of significance different from zero, between the total densities of epibenthic organisms in regard to the water temperature.
