Résumé:	El presente estudio se desarrolló mediante muestreos mensuales de zooplankton en las estaciones fijas La Libertad y Manta localizadas a 10 y 8 millas costa afuera respectivamente. Se analizaron un total de 150 muestras de zooplankton en La Libertad y Manta durante 1997-1998 considerado un evento El Niño extraordinario y en los años 2002-2003, período que presentaron condiciones oceanográficas de inestabilidad. La prueba estadística determinó que existen cambios temporales en los patrones de distribución y abundancia en las especies de Quetognatos, aceptándose la hipótesis nula, el cual estuvo influenciado por las condiciones oceanográficas y época estacional, siendo más notorio en la estación fija La Libertad durante el período en estudio. El índice de diversidad de Shannon-Wiener mostró que durante el evento El Niño 1997-1998 presentó una menor diversidad de especies de Quetognatos en comparación con los años 2002-2003, período que se registró una mayor diversidad especialmente en la columna de agua en La Libertad durante el 2003. Las especies S. bipunctata, S. pacifica, S. regularis, Pterosagitta draco y krohnitta pacifica, presentaron correlaciones positivas con los parámetros ambientales tales como temperatura, salinidad y oxígeno disuelto, estas especies podrían ser consideradas como típicas de aguas cálidas oceánicas. The present survey collected zooplankton samples from 50 m depths every other month at fixed stations offshore of La Libertad and Manta, at 10 and 8 miles respectively from the ecuadorian coast. One hundred and fifty Zooplankton samples were analized during the years 1997-1998, these years included one of the most severe El Niño events of the century. Zooplankton was also collected during the years of 2002 and 2003. The results suggest that oceanographic conditions such as seasonality affect the patterns of abundance of Chaetognatha, particularly atthe La Libertad station. The Shannon-Wiener diversity index showed that there was a low diversity of Chaetognatha species in during the El Niño event of 1997-1998 in relation to the height of diversity in 2002-2003, a change particularly noted at the La Libertad station in 2003. The species Sagitta bipunctata, S. pacifica, S. regularis, Krohnitta pacifica and Pterosagitta draco were also frequentin the study area and displayed positive correlations with oceanographic conditions. In contrast, these species were associated to warm oceanic waters.
