Presented here is the study of chlorophyll a cell counts, and qualitative analysis (net 50u) made over 27 station in the fishing port of Santa Rosa in may of 2006 and october of 2007. That the results of this study provide valuable ecological information on the phytoplankton community of this port. Within the phytoplankton community, 50 species from water samples and 62 species in net samples (50u) were identidied. Diatoms predominated these samples and in smaller concentrations the dinoflagellates, cocolithophores, cianobacters and tintinnoids were identified. The most abundant species in cell counts were Thalassiosira subtilis and Pseudo-nitzschia delicatissima. In net samples (50u), species typical of the marine environment were identified: Coscinodiscus excentricus, Leptocylindrus danicus, Cyclotella menenghiniana, Dactyoso9len mediterraneus, Thalassiosira subtilis.
