| Abstract: | This document provides a regional overview on land-based sources and activities affecting the marine,
coastal and associated freshwater environment in the West and Central African region.
It addresses natural conditions and processes, anthropogenic impacts and its socio-economic implications,
including losses of cultural heritage sites. This overview also contains information on emerging and
forseeable problems in the region, proposing priorities for action including regional and international activities
for cooperation.
This document encompasses the following nations: Angola, Benin, Chad, Congo (Democratic Republic),
Côte d’Ivoire, Gambia, Ghana, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Liberia, Mauritania, Nigeria, São Tomé and
Principe, Senegal and Togo. |
