Abstract:	The purpose of this guide is to propose a complete methodological procedure for the creation of a database and a cartographic decision-aid system. It is illustrated by two case studies carried out in the area in the framework of the Indian Ocean Commission’s Regional Environmental Programme (REP), financed by the European Union (REP-IOC/EU).
