Bioecology of eggs and larval stages of Cetengraulis mysticetus (Chuhueco), Opisthonema sp. (Pinchagua) and Anchovies, in the ecological reserve mangrove Cayapas-Mataje - EcuadorAbstract
This paper is about eggs and larval stages of Cetengraulis mysticetus (chuhueco), Engraulis, Anchoa sp., Anchovia sp. (anchovies) and Opisthonema sp., (pinchagua) research, and their relation with the micro zooplankton distribution collected in 22 stations located in the inner channels and coastal waters of Ecological Reserve Cayapas-Mataje (REMACAM) - Province of Esmeraldas, from april 2000 to december 2001. These fish larvae characterized the coastal and estuarine waters of Santa Rosa, Limones (C. mysticetus and Anchovia sp.) and Olmedo (Anchoa sp.) especially from august to december. Opisthonema sp. fish larvae characterized the northern zone of the REMACAM, in front of Campana town in the Mataje River on june 2001 and also in the central zone towards on a side of the Bolivar Channel, San Lorenzo and Isla de los Pájaros in Tambillo River on august and december 2001. The spawn of chuhueco fish and anchovies found on august and november 2001 increased in the inner channel of the north and central zone, from the mouth of the Mataje River, Canal de la Caida to San Lorenzo. Associated coastal processes to own oceanic conditions of "La Niña" event, during year 2000 and the tendency to a normalization of the marine ecosystem at the end of the 2001, they would be related to a greater micro zooplankton production (chaetognatha, copepoda, veliger larvae of mollusks, zoea of brachyuran) observed in the year 2000 and to reductions in the density of zooplankters and greater spawn of engraulis in the year 2001. The amount of phosphates nitrates and chlorophyll correlated positively with rises in the density of clupeiformes eggs and fish larvae.
