| Abstract: | El presente trabajo revisa la información concerniente a la posición trófica de M. rubrum en los procesos de surgencia en aguas costeras y océanicas del Ecuador.
Concentrations of Mesodinium rubrum are frequently underestimate due to improper used of fixative, that destroy this fragil organism that have capacity photosynthesis. In coastal and oceanic waters off Ecuador, M. rubrum is common organism related to bloom formation. Blooms on offshore conditions and in neritic localities are characteristically a recurring feature of a particular area, altough the exact location may vary from year to year and are often accompaied by excepcional primary productivity which could play an important role in the food web. |
