| Abstract: | The evaluation of the possible environmental changes due to the anthropic impacts that have happened in the last years in this scenario and the redefinition of areas that suffer affectations were carried up. Any environmental alteration of this
ecosystem, either of natural or human origin, can have an important economic and social repercussion. According to the
proposed chemical and biological indexes, the waters of the Gulf of Batabanó presented mesotrophic conditions with tendency to the eutrofization in four fundamental areas. In the silts of the Gulf the values of organic carbon and sulphidric acid were characteristic of sediments with high concentrations of organic matter. In the coastal sector N, was determinate high concentrations of sulphidric acid and heavy metals, which indicates elevated levels of antrophic affectation. The waters of the reefs of the Gulf showed mesotrophic conditions, while the silts were considered little affected, according to the chemical and biological indexes proposed in this work. |
