| Series: | Sixteenth Session of the IOC Committee on International Oceanographic Data and Information Exchange (IODE) |
| Abstract: | The history of the IODE programme’s web presence goes back to September 1995 when the IOC’s web site was opened as one of the first UNESCO web sites. As the site was developed by the Ocean Services unit staff (Ocean Services also includes IODE) emphasis was put from the start on users services. This led to several on-line information products such as the Ocean Pilot, Ocean Experts Directory (the precursor of GLODIR), IOC’s on-line Publication service, IOC’s List of Acronyms, International Marine Meeting List, Oceans Electronic Mailing Lists and Ocean Software |
