Phytoplankton in the outer Gulf of Guayaquil, during january 2014Abstract
El presente trabajo, comprende la composición y distribución del fitoplancton en el Golfo de Guayaquil externo. Se establecieron 14 estaciones distribuidas en estaciones cercanas, intermedias y alejadas a la costa, a bordo del Buque de Investigación Orión durante enero de 2014. La mayor diversidad de la comunidad fitoplanctónica en la capa superficial, se observó en las estaciones alejadas de la costa con un total de 53 especies, destacándose las especies de diatomeas dominantes como Thalassiosira subtilis, Chaetoceros affinis, Chaetoceros curvisetus, Guinardia striata y Rhizosolenia imbricata, en el grupo de los dinoflagelados se determinaron Ceratium fusus, Lyngulodinium polyedrum y Goniodoma polyedricum, especies propias de la zona marino-costera. Las especies de fitoplancton estuvieron relacionadas a temperatura entre 26.2-26.6° C. A nivel superficial las características biológicas en el Golfo externo de Guayaquil, presentó una elevada productividad primaria con valores de clorofila entre 0.66-0.74 mg/m3 en las estaciones alejadas de la costa, en la columna de aguaThis work includes the composition and distribution of phytoplankton in the outer Gulf of Guayaquil. There were 14 established stations distributed in near, intermediate and out shore, this study was conducted in the Orion Research ship in January 2014. The greatest diversity of the phytoplankton community in the surface layer was observed in the out shore stations with a total of 53 species. The highlighting the dominant diatoms species were Thalassiosira subtilis, Chaetoceros affinis, Guinardia striata, Rhizosolenia imbricata and Chaetoceros curvisetus in the dinoflagellates Ceratium fusus group, Lyngulodinium polyedrum and Goniodoma polyedricum, typical of the marine and coastal zones. Phytoplankton species were related to the sea water temperature between 26.2-26.6° C. The biological characteristics at a superficial level in the outer Gulf of Guayaquil, registered a high primary productivity of chlorophyll between 0.66 to 0.74 mg/m3 in the water column of the out shore stations
